Good to know

Quick answers.

Is it covered by OHIP?

Yes - the pharmacist assessment is covered by OHIP for Ontario residents with a valid health card. Any prescribed medication is billed normally (through your insurance or out-of-pocket).

Do I need a health card?

Yes - you'll need a valid Ontario Health Card (10-digit number, no version code required). Without one, call us at (647) 345-5115 and we'll talk through alternatives.

In-person or phone?

Either works. Some conditions (skin rashes, pink eye) are easier in person; others (UTIs, hay fever) we can handle by phone. We'll decide what's best when we reach out.

How long does it take?

The actual assessment is usually 10-15 minutes. We aim to contact you within 24 business hours of your request, and often the same day if it's submitted before noon.

Will my family doctor know?

Yes - by Ontario regulations, we're required to notify your family doctor (or nurse practitioner) of any prescriptions we issue, so your records stay coordinated. We'll ask for their details when you book.

Is it safe?

Pharmacists in Ontario have completed accredited training under the College of Pharmacists. Prescribing for these conditions is regulated by the Pharmacy Act, 1991 (Schedule 4 of O. Reg. 256/24).
